My Life - An Update

Howdy y'all. It has been a while but wow,  a lot has changed. My last introductory blog was exactly 6 months ago on October 5th. As I write this now it is April 5th. Having originally been dual enrolled at LBCC and OSU I can confirm I have plans to do so again. I changed my major from fisheries and wildlife to secondary education and will likely end up double majoring in english or journalism.

Last October was my first time taking classes after a long break as I was trying to figure out what it was I wanted to do with my life. After about a term I realized I did want to change my major, and when reflecting on where I saw myself in the future, strangely enough it was teaching. Teaching was something I hadn't really considered before but something I could see myself being good at.

I have continued to read, and hike, though I unfortunately haven't made the time to go bird watching. I recently read The Children of Húrin on of J.R.R. Tolkiens books about Middle Earth before The Lord of the Rings. I also recently read Of Mice and Men which was a great story with a heartbreaking ending. The most recent book I read was Blink by Malcolm Gladwell, a great psychology book about rapid cognition and snap judgements. Currently I am reading a book called The Splendid and the Vile about Winston Churchill and the London Blitz during WWII.

Moving forward I am very much looking forward to Feature Writing. While I don't know entirely what to expect, I have come to realize I love telling stories and I feel this class is perfect for that. This class I am looking forward to improving my writing skills and story telling abilities.

Three Goals for the Term.

1) Apply myself fully to my work. As I was returning to schooling I feel I haven't fully applied myself to my work all the time.

2) Schedule and plan my time. This goes with my last goal, but I feel if I plan my time well I will do better to succeed in my classes. The big thing for me is not procrastinating, but this term I am busier and usually I do better when I am more busy.

3) Have a good time and keep a good mindset. I feel like sometimes, when I start doing poorly I let myself go, but I need to remember to stay positive even when I feel I am swamped with work.
